MISTAKE AS A VERB
… not a certainty, but an action
Saturday Apr. 12, 2014
Black.
White.
Simplistic options – right, left, up, down, wrong – addicted to habits, our point of view, we become shackled, minimum-security prisoners in wall-less jail, free to escape, but choosing to remain.
Right/wrong, we mistake …
Or not.
A wonder we choose anything wisely. Or at all.
Where is what we seek but can’t map?
Get a grip on it, seek it, speak it!
Down which road?
Where is this place – REALITY?
Anyone seen it? Visited?
I’ve been, struggle my way back every day.
We need not search ends of this earth – like chain stores, freeway ramps, first dates – if you miss REALITY, bound to be another along soon.
So commonplace.
Why then, are we searching?
Village named REALITY.
Country town, melt-pot metropolis or rift valley rim camp, anywhere people meet, REALITY lurks.
Close to insanity, its suburbs are ABSTRACT, CONCEPT, HYPOTHESIS AND FANTASY.
REALITY – people who laugh, cry, work, fight, eat, sleep, make love Saturday mornings.
There is a cost.
Not exorbitant.
No need for cash or plastic, we play with chips. For our lives.
We pay our fare with days, with months – cutting off pieces of ourselves to pay our way.
People in REALITY settle for less than they deserve while others will take everything they can get, greedily hording their gains, leveraged for more.
There, settling-in or settling-for will morph in to, we settled here.
There we’ll stay, comfy residents of REALITY, population 1.
This place called REALITY – no laws about truth in advertising, product labeling or anything involving full, true, plain disclosure.
REALITY, we must investigate our own, judge ourselves, poke holes in our dreamy theories. Nobody else will.

morning walk: -5C / 23F, flakes around (return of warm predicted for tomorrow) overcast, Gusta finding smells but she can’t get those morsels loose from frozen ground (good thing), lack of sunshine dampens spirits which are otherwise high – a great day to hunker down with work (with one eye on the TV .. watching the Masters, it’s warm in Augusta) while Gusta does not appreciate her namesake ..

Today I attended the "Celebration of Life" service for a lovely lady whose message for those left behind is to take care of each other. Mark, from what I've learned about you from your Musings, there is no doubt you have and are doing that. What a great world this would be if that message spread and became a behaviour norm. Don't worry to much about a "legacy". Others will do that. Live in the here and now and strive to be the best person you can be, and you and you alone, are the only one who knows if that's what you're doing. Notice, not be the best person, but to continue to strive to be that person. That's the challenge. Keep well. LK – Calgary
I stopped subscribing to fear the moment I learned that Fear stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. We often fear what has not happened yet and by fearing that thing it seems to inevitably happen. So I decided that if I don't want something to happen that causes me concern I won't step into fear. As for the Club, aren't we all a part of that club simply because we still exist. As for Relevance, are you talking Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, JFK type relevance or if we simply made someone smile just by being in their presence? Lots to think about there. GW, Bon Wier, Tx.
