My comfortable old chair. Broken.

Mend or replace? Toss? Rebuild?

Connections matter in plumbing, electrical wiring, computers – without working connections, nothing works. Connected properly, correctly, without leaks, short circuits or catastrophic crashes.

Is that true too for people? When plumbing, wiring or computers go wonky, we call experts. When personal connections fail, who do we call? Can’t apologize to a leaky faucet, you fix it.  Can’t discuss a broken handle, get a new one. Can’t repair a broken belief, can’t reconcile a missed opportunity with the passage of time.

Comfortable old friendship, lost. Another, broken. Chase, mend, or replace? I’ve lost something along the way. Can’t go back, retrace steps or do-over. Time for new connection, or to re-calibrate failed ones. When younger, friendship was like fishing – catch and release. Not sure old rules hold …
