When Calgarians read those words, they immediately think of a political tug-of-war that’s been brewing in this city for a long time – the on-again ~ off-again challenge of politicians vs. business interests trying to negotiate a secret contract behind closed doors and in the media simultaneously – doing it badly, and failing one step forward, then two steps back. The Landlord is being out-witted and out-negotiated by its Tenant, compounded by rookie mistakes (our mayor) and the dynamics of a weary public juxtaposed against a winning season for the Tenant (our Calgary Flames.)
But that’s not my subject du jour – the issue is about taking risks, believing in yourself and taking the consequences. I’ve written on this subject before, but nothing I can say holds a candle to this talk by Brene Brown. Hoppy oyster weekend everyone.

Stand to attention. Anthems have always made me pay attention—here are my comments on today’s musings. Of the three national anthems most familiar to me, one unifies by glorifying a flag lit by rockets’ red glare; another (the one I grew up standing for) unifies by glorifying an individual: god save the . But “Oh Canada “ unifies by glorifying the land: the true north; the pines and maples. No judgment, but I’ll take the “great prairies spread” over bursting bombs and jaded crowns any day, HM, Calgary, AB
