BIKE BREAK OUT

Saturday Apr. 22, 2017

My time today divided between work which begs it’s do-time due-time, writing something which has been knowing inside, aching to get outside – to emerge, like a plant breaking soil’s damp exterior …

Spring showers – when weather gets warmer, when that rain isn’t a precursor to snow – wash more than faces, washing winter grime time and dampening fertile ground where plants and ideas can take root and grow. Beyond metaphor, so much more, invigoration of downturned spirits and smiles to make the world grin. It seems fitting to do human-powered transport on this earth-day 2017. I know, I could walk, but I’d rather ride …

Breaking out a bike in springtime, like breaking in new stiff shoes; some aches, some sore spots, stiff and maybe a blister or two ~ but each time I’ve read lately now many calories we can burn in an hour of cycling, each time I meet someone whose life has a lot of wheels spinning all I see are fit/tight bodies and pictures of health. I pumped up my tires yesterday, a little brushing off winter’s dust and I’m ready to roll.

Whatever we do, fresh and air and movement – calorie burning with scenery is invigorating, so rain or shine today, I’m going to get my seat on my saddle and peddle. Go for a walk, get outside – play in the part of walk in the woods, have a happy happy earth-day.
