When someone is really concerned about something, they need, deserve and want support and encouragement. We all get that, sometimes. Often it comes from someone we really care about. Or it might come from a stranger we neither know about or care about.
But the thing/issue/pursuit they care about absolutely fits the definition of ‘I couldn’t care less’, and we don’t. What then? Do we roll our eyes, scoff or dismiss them as ridiculous?
I understand how to show empathy for people who have (in my view) a completely misguided or a ‘different though legitimate’ view of things, but what do we do in the presence of someone completely idiotic?
