WELCOME MAT

Saturday Aug. 1, 2015

2:45AM

Full moon, those coyote howls were wafting in.

What causes idea arrival, are writers obliged to tell?

Alone works.

Well, sort of …

Lingering. Tugging emotional tendons. They arrive. Some stay, make rose-garden promises, then they leave. Or are left.

Was sleeplessness cause of this, or premeditated?

I was up anyway …

Was it big meal, coffee, Woody Allen’s new movie Irrational Man (under-whelming acting/writing, insufficiently complex plot), or clicking away spilling alphabets on pages, pondering what drives my muse?

Relationships both spur and stifle creativity. Want and wanton don’t fit with lone or alone – yet lonely, this powerful source. Long ago learned themes are repeating …

Not sure I’m getting better at recognizing triggers or better at riding thought-adventures as surfers ride waves, seeking thrill without spill-fear. I found myself re-watching a great Helen Fisher video simply to be reminded of her points at 20:12 and 27:02, but if you want to know, watch it yourself.

What makes luck: things that happen to a person because of chance – accidental way things happen without being planned, good fortune, good luck, success in doing or getting something?

We live our definition, make our own. We worked hard, long or faithfully, got what we wanted or were open to it when opportunity sailed in – or  someone incredible showed up?

Novel percolating.

I don’t share my mind’s inner-works, so empathy expectations are illogical. Do happy, or happier times, have best-before dates?

Pick a day, any day will do, it will do for anything you want to do …

Morning paper plop … on my welcome mat.

4:19AM

Dawn’s early light arrives here, very soon.

morning walk:  16C/60F, hot-hot-hot forecast for three-day weekend – oh boy! … warm breeze, full moon, rosy-hues creeping over the horizon. Gusta enjoyed the quiet I think – no badgering Magpies, just one seemed to be hopping in a little late … or early …
