WHAT REMAINS

Thursday Aug. 20, 2015

Many days end without any significant breakthroughs in thought.

Mostly we aren’t that profound. Or prolific. We all live lives that look pretty much like every other maze-crazed rat, chasing food or avoiding fears and predators.

Meaningful lives are everywhere.

See them?

Of course you do.

Not familiar faces plastered across the front page, or touted on gossip paged.

Not heralded that way, but heroes all. They’re marching off to work as if off to wars, as duty, as service, as ‘they have no-choices lives’, doing tasks considered worthy, matching their skills.

Some to thrive.

Too many, just to survive.

Then, sun comes up, again.

Do it over.

And over.

We see them.

When we look at ourselves – is that what we see?

When we get past  going-through-motions critiquing, do we see what we’ve done, or do we focus to harshly on what we might have done?

Or what we could have done much better?

Looking inside will never show us how anyone else sees us, sees our cause or project or whether something is worthy – that view cannot be self-seen, can it?

After we’ve walked down-beach, waves behind us have washed away all evidence we were there.

Shouldn’t we consider making deeper footprints?

morning walk:  12C/54F, little breeze, cloudy, sprinkling as one batch of clouds follows another, as Gusta wanders her familiar path, as I follow her – one foot follows the other without much thinking and the journey is nearly done, then thinking-gear clicks in …

PLAYING PARTS

Hello Mark - enjoy reading your musings, though I admit not every day. You are prolific! I wanted to share with you a date for an upcoming program - The Reins of Responsibility. it will be our only individual participation date for 2015 and we’d love to include you, and of course please share with others you believe would find the learning of value. It is also the perfect opportunity to assess how a day with horses might fit within an existing learning program as for both individual or team learning many of the concepts we will touch on apply. Thanks so much, NL, Balzac, AB

RIPE

Hi there – I don’t feel out of touch since I’m reading your column – sounds like you’ve had some big happenings of late?  Your columns have been a little vague, so I’m not sure what’s up other than staying true to the Ninja selling and your routines. Life is good, summer is flitting by, and I missed your birthday.  Happy Belated! Whassup with you? CM, Calgary, AB
