EARLY AFTERNOON

Up early, lots to do before sundown, lots to do before my day is done. That thought rolled through my mind yesterday, mid-morning actually. Daily routines were underway, phone calls dealt with … and I was ‘getting it in gear’ for the day, this thought:
I am in the afternoon of my life.
At the end of the day I read it again.
Yes, I am.
