MOVIE-THINK
Saturday Aug. 3, 2019

I love movies with great writing or acting. Preferably both. Box-office-hot or not, impress me with writing or acting – otherwise, why bother?

I avoid movies if I know how it ends. Not just true story movies but many shamelessly predictable plots when everyone knows how it ends. I’m not averse to portrayal of mayhem per se, but why do I want to watch a movie about the 9/11 world trade center disaster or infamous hostage taking thriller ripped from headlines – I know how it ends, so why would I pay to learn that?

I love movies that make me think, laugh or cry – all those. Entertain me sure. I want to leave with a fresh thought planted, something stirring my head, roiling my belly. Something which makes my heart lighter or race – something worth talking about.
