UP WITH CHICKENS
Tuesday Aug. 4, 2015
Ideas hatch.
Don’t they?
Like chicks, egg of idea to be incubated. Sat on. Kept alive, kept warm until one day it is ready to hatch. Chicks break free, wobble, walk …. and the next time we see them it in the meat counter or in a bucket of KFC.
Forget those chicks, think ideas.
Before they can be incubated they have to start – no hens, no roosters, no spectacular fireworks of conception.
Or is there?
Do you remember, when and how, or where you were that you got your best ideas? I’ve found some are the children and grandchildren of other ideas – there are steps, side-steps and miss-steps – giving rise to the ‘new idea’ as if it was fresh, even though its gestation period might be hours, or weeks.
Or decades.
Hatched any ideas lately?

morning walk: 21C/69F, overcast-muggy, up ‘before the chickens’, 5AM silence enveloped us – Gusta loped along, I strode without bird or traffic noise to interfere … fantastic!
