TELL TWO FRIENDS
Thursday Aug. 8, 2019

Is the world safer now than it used to be?

9/11 events notwithstanding, our world has been getting statistically safer. Boomer child, cold war adolescent during Cuban Missile Crisis, I’ve seen the world become a better safer less conflicted place.

Conflict, war and strife declining. Healthier safer world, less poverty, less disease. So much collective muscle and improved awareness of risk of creating ecological disasters to exacerbate planet warming. Oceans at risk, shorelines at risk, species at risk – yet our human species seems deeply divided about these issues.

A short while ago we seemed headed for a showdown on many fronts. Too much bungling in high places, technology used to manipulate electorates. Media companies letting us know exactly what they want us to know, seen through their philosophical lens – unbalanced view, seen from their end of the spectrum. Technology is our friend, but in matters of news and politics it seems technology is weaponized information which benefits those who hold power over it, that they wield power over us. Are technology companies our friend? I think not.

We aren’t crazy, but you have to ask if we’ve gone collectively mad?

Elected leaders, dictators, warlords and terrorists are shoving us in their self-serving self-destructive paths and media in so many forms are complicit accomplices. We know more at our fingertips than ever yet we have less evidence we know the truth than we have in a very long while.

To fix this, all we need to do is convince everyone to tell truth all the time.

Easy.

Where to start?

You tell two friends, and I’ll tell two friends, and so on ~

TRANQUILITY IS NO PLACE
I've been thinking about tranquility also! I had cultivated quite a lot of it and then...we welcomed a puppy into our hearts. Even though I feel like we got the deluxe model (she's really a very good puppy), I do find she's challenging some of the peace I'd cultivated. Interesting, huh? It seems to me she's come at the perfect time to test my skill. Can I put what I've been learning into practice? :) Wishing you many tranquil moments!, GB, Waukesha, WI
