VISIONS OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE
Sunday Dec. 15, 2013
Hitting the road yesterday – driving, calls, familiar routes – unfamiliar themes, my primary reason for travelling playing on my mind. I’ll be back here in a couple of weeks, but the purpose of this visit weighs …
Yesterday went mostly as planned – but Gary was not up for having visitors, so I hope to see him this afternoon for a while if he’s up to it.
Visiting Edmonton, where I lived for 27 years, visiting my past – drive-by resume of sorts, where I came, went, worked, projects I was involved in. Always nice to inspect my work, see, what is gone from the landscape – lots of memories, lots of years, lots of friends and colleagues come and gone – what is still standing, what is thriving.
Speaking of thriving - visiting my daughter Carla, son-in-law and granddaughter, inspecting a future resume – theirs and mine. The whistle scared Isla – she’s shy about cuddling up to a guy she’s not seen in a couple of months saying ‘come to grandpa’ . Not that she would sit for long if she did. I get to take pictures, watch her watch Elmo, read books and play non-stop, her attention never resting very long on any one thing. Ah, the joys of being 19 months old! Carla is nearly 8 months pregnant – so the future is visible, baby-bro for Isla is on his way.
I like it here – each time I visit, new things to see, every picture taken is a magic moment.
Rest away, rest anywhere, is precious. Sleep, beautiful sleep . . .
Today, maybe coffee with old friends, time with Gary.
Maybe driving home will be easy . . .

Isla will LOVE the whistle even if it’s a teeny challenge to teach her … but I’m wondering if her parents will love it in the same way? I recall giving a friends fairly new youngster who’d just learned to walk a Fisher Price gizmo, similar to a lawn mower, to push, and it played music. The child adored it … the parents hated me. But the gift was for the child, right? Enjoy … they stay small for such a blink of an eye, BJR, Calgary, AB
Overcomer or underachiever? That is the question. There are so many factors that come into play in any given situation. Give up and quit? Well, sometimes that is the wisest thing to do but for an overcomer it is the most difficult decision to make. Go forth and conquer my friend, you definitely have the momentum. GW, Brady, Tx.
