MIND OF FRAME
Monday Dec. 2, 2013

It boils. Down. Before it boils down, it roils. Boils over. And over. Angst focused. Few things awake one from mindless pot watching to reality like a good reality thump. Rise, fall, rise again, fall again, rise again. Rise again. Rise again – mantra of those who never give up, who get up, get up again, never letting those moment pass without paying their proper toll. Standing in it. Feeling it. Solutions don’t come from applying pressure to problems or defiance of challenges, any better than sitting around waiting for them.

Every sameness week begins. Routine tasks, year after year. Or, splashing every ounce of our being onto blank canvas called ‘something original I create today’. Work, so worthy, especially compared with life’s kryptonite, retirement, which I’m convinced is far worse than anything. So many contemporaries are in it or poised to leap off diving boards into what they perceive are deep waters of pleasure and warmth rather than a self-inflicted route to irrelevance. I can’t wait until I am ‘of that certain official age’ so I can loudly defy it.

Worry doesn’t work. Work works. Work, work, work. Does it, really? Is work, either big picture struggling, task after task, project upon project, day after day, week in, week out – or one small task after another, the secret? Or, is this better? To sit, near a window, cup of hot beverage in hand, watching snow swirl about, wondering what all this fuss is about, why everyone is rushing off to some other place of work where rushing is not seen again until 4PM, when they all rush off to exits?

That’s all.

morning walk: -11C (windchill -23C)/12F, blizzard warning. Dump of snow overnight, windy – and pretty mild compared to what is predicted. Gusta loved the romp – she always appreciates weather her coat was built for – in the snow while I didn’t appreciate it so much, slipping on ice beneath that snow and landing thump on my back (but my foot was saved from injury..yay!).
