Listening to talking heads on news showsI found myself wondering – awash in knowledge on scale never contemplated in human history, why is how we are governed so rooted in lies, propaganda, misdirection and suspension of disbelief by leaders, parties and ‘machinations of government’, manipulated by media and intelligence agencies – seems ‘beyond belief’, beyond credulity?
Whatever craziness comes our way next year, what can we do about it?
Most would say there is very little we can do. That’s answering the wrong question. We get governing we deserve. Sitting silently, if we don’t participate – don’t stand up, don’t speak out – are we getting the society we want, deserve and appreciate?
What of our American friends? And the Spanish? The Catalonians? Pick a continent, there is some brand of chaos, overbearing government and enrichment of someone going on. Where can we start?
Do you like how your city/town, province/state or country are being governed? If yes, relax. If not, maybe it’s time to stand up, speak up and step up.
Isn’t nostalgic reflection of how things were – I’m fearful how things might be if we sit on our collective hands, close our collective mouths and numb our collective minds to the point we believe there is nothing we can do and that what we do won’t matter. It does. It will.
Not all at once. Not on every street. In your bathroom mirror – watch for it. When it shows up there is no mistaking it for anything else. What are you fighting for? Or against?
What are you quietly trying to influence to make the world a better place?
