NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY
Monday Dec. 8, 2014
These words jolted me this morning, before coffee could, about making life better:
“Opportunity doesn’t make appointments, you have to be ready when it arrives.” – Tim Fargo
I wanted to start with those words, and give them away, because they seem so perfect for any Monday morning.
For mine, for anyone’s, where Monday morning means start, go, get going, get it in gear …
Opportunity knocked.
Twice before 7AM.
OK, e-mails …
Time, precious time.
We all waste lots.
‘Not having enough time’, a lazy excuse I no longer allow myself.
Time is the ONLY thing I have.
New for me … since July, making time, altering daily routine, to install these new processes, to make them permanent.
Some I’ve done well, lapsed from others, started again, lapsed again but I’ve stuck with it.
Now, my new morning routine is just another part of my day, every day.
I’m so glad for those changes. Thanks Larry Kendall!
Simply: think gratitude, live that attitude, stick with it, without yielding to distractions.
… daily start, a few minutes to read something inspirational.
Passages, quotes, short pieces of inspired writing, set my tone every day. All part of that gratitude/attitude shift I’ve been instituting.
At first I was pretty steady. But I slipped off track.
I’m back on track.
Every day.
Must-do.
It works. I’m happier. More effective. Better focused.
And I think I’m a nicer person …
This isn’t for everyone – yet I know it could. I’m not out to change or convert the whole world, but happy to help those who seek it from me.
Amazing things happen when I get up early.

morning walk: -7C/20F, overcast, imperceptible breeze, hungry pooch Gusta wanted to go fast so she could race home for breakfast. Or was that me?

Dec 7 – Happy re-birthday. Absolutely!! That day was a life changing decision. Look at your successes since then and compare them to the alternatives. We’ve been friends for many years and I hope the friendship will continue for many more years. All the best. BB, Vancouver, BC
Congratulations Mark, I read your piece this morning and wanted to wish you a happy birthday. I did not know you were one of the sober crew. I took 27 in October. There is a movement called Anonymous People comprised of global Leaders such as you and I. Yes, leaders. The number one symptom of addiction is denial. Perhaps your writing helped someone say " I am one, it's okay and I can do this". All the best as you broach 30. Kindest Regards, KP, Calgary, AB
