SHOWING UP ON EARTH TODAY
Monday, December 21, 2020
Hello, is that you, are you here?
This is the earth.
Welcome to winter.
And thanks for coming.
I’ve lived here all my life.
Each year has four seasons.
After a while, every spring resembles spring.
Summers are predictable. So is fall. But here’s the funny thing about winter – it’s going to be different this year. A year ago, we’d not heard of Wuhan or known much about coronaviruses, we’d not heard of herd-immunity, and we little to fear but blizzards, death, and taxes.
This will be like no winter we’ve ever experienced – and I’m not referring to the weather. We’ll have twists we’ve not seen before. Resilient people will do innovative problem solving, and we’ll sadly lose way too many people to illnesses and diseases.
Confluence of shutdowns, politics, economics, COVID case surges, vaccine rollouts, and predictions from everyone will be for a brutal and bleak economic and health winter followed by rocket-like recovery of our economy in the second half of 2021.
I’m not skeptical.
Still, I can’t recall many years when all predictions came true. Just guesswork, albeit from experts …
There is only one prediction: outcomes we experience will be influenced by our mindset and commitment to our goals, values, and self-care regime. Add up our collective choices by population, and that will give you a marketplace. And showing up.
By season’s end, we’ll still have COVID-19, death, and taxes. But other things can be avoided – some by our actions, some by our thoughts and resolve.
Not hell on earth; it’s just winter.
You just need to show up – this is earth, this is winter; welcome aboard!
