Muscling through mall hustle-jostle, done – shopping done, wrapping nearly done – cannot imagine better fun than watching wide-eyed children (and their children), ripping packages open, playing with their newest joys and toys.
Sounds like the season …
This week felt was accordion of expanding/contracting tasks, appointments, traffic-tolerating – plate near empty, completely cleared, at one moment – then like a heaped holiday platter requiring me to push away from the table, but even that is abating …

Now – day later than planned – I’m headed north. Bearded white haired guy loading sleigh named Pathfinder, delivering a few gifts I’ll trade for great joy, because a little girl and a little boy won’t call me Santa, they’ll greet me ‘hi Grandpa’.

morning walk: -14D/7F, light now, north breeze – quiet streets right now (and foreboding about highway driving in slippery conditions when traffic is heavy – so I’m thinking Highway 21 might be a better option than #2), quiet times and pace slowing is such an attractive prospect, nothing can smudge this day …
