The eve of the day, as in Christmas day, is called Christmas Eve.
Could Saturday ever be called Sunday Eve?
How we reference a day or date isn’t that important – and whether we do anything on any date, be that the 24th, the 25th, or the 26th is arbitrary. And it’s a shame that people in Siberia, Samoa, and New Zealand get a head start; the day of stuffing and roasting a bird is nearly upon us.
Last-minute shoppers are taking ‘impulse shopping’ to a new level, and online shoppers are trading dollars for promised speedy deliveries. Some of us redeem points, and some of us exchange gifts early and beat the rush of boxing-week shoppers.
A lot of this holiday is the magic that plays out in saucer-sized children’s eyes – of the warm laughter of someone unwrapping a totally unexpected surprise.
Whatever you are doing today, you’ll wake up tomorrow to ‘the next step’ in a series of events and tasks.
Hazel and I did some ingredient shopping and some exchanges yesterday; our 5-stop plan curtailed to 3 when compounded with multi-hour parking lot gridlock at SouthCentre mall, today is a stay away from traffic and coldness hunkering and binge-watching, and tomorrow we’ll do our first ‘joint-turkey-roasting’ …
