END OF ROLL
Tuesday, December 28, 2021
Yesterday, -33C start, which I avoided, as W.O. Mitchell described winter travel, “by going from a heated box to a heated box in a heated box.”
There is nothing like a cold snap to re-ordering priorities, precluding any need to go out for work or play – exercise so quickly redirected indoors, postponed, or skipped entirely.
The need to socialize, go to the office, or go shopping – all squelched before our lips can give voice to them.
The countdown began a long time ago; the hourglass pinch point seems to let sand grains through at a faster pace. Days running out at the end of a year, flying by like the last few spins of toilet paper rolls; we know it will all be over soon.
Break out a new roll.
Ready to play a new role.
