FEW TESTS ARE FINALS – ask around
Tuesday, December 29, 2020 – daily column # 6621
Can you teach yourself to write?
Of course.
Can you teach yourself to write better?
Of course.
Can you teach yourself to think?
Of course.
Can you teach yourself to think better?
Of course.
THE END of this course?
Of course.
Are you ready to be tested, examined, scored, rated, critiqued, elevated, rewarded, lauded?
Please don’t fret. Most examinations in life are open-book tests, even though most people ignore books, resources and advice when they respond to any test.
Now that I’ve written this column, I’m wondering if we should invent a new term for a Final Exam.
Suddenly that term seems too ominous.
If anyone asks, congratulations, you just graduated from a short course.
What is the moral or point of this?
Every problem we encounter is a test; we don’t need to cheat, pay a tutor, or run away – there is help everywhere with no shortage of people willing to help us. If you don’t believe me, ask around, someone will help. Support isn’t always perfect, but it’s usually far more reliable than guessing.
