PUSH LIFT AND PULL
Tuesday Feb. 3, 2016
At my gym – metaphorically and actually – pushing, lifting and pulling yesterday started it.
A note this morning drove it home.
We are not lifted by machines.
We are lifted by magical moments.
We are not pushed down by weight, we are pushed down by heavy moments.
Lifted by words/actions or pushed down by words/actions …
How can we not let them, when they are lifting us up?
Why do we let them when they are pushing us down?
Life/work/play, family/romance/finance, exercise/health/motivation – in these areas we are in control of how we feel and how we let words/actions of others impact us.
These are challenging times – here in Calgary. In many other places too.
We all need reminding that, strong and secure as we might feel, not everyone is feeling clear and in control of their life, not everyone’s self-ness and personal value are secure.
Not to say everyone is emotionally flattened.
Most of us are not 99% most of the time either.
Any given day most of us are neither over-inflated or slayed by off-hand, accidental or thoughtless comments.
Some folks, some days, some ways – those comments devastate, deflate and demoralize.
Too often I’ve ripped along asking/answering queries, pitching/wooing clients and colleagues and objets d’affection du jour, creating/solving problems in work and play pursuits – completely oblivious to the harm (or lack of good) I might do.
I don’t think about that much.
I should think about it more.
How many times have I failed to lift someone up when I could have so easily lifted?
How many times have I pushed someone down when I could have so easily not pushed down?

morning walk: -16C/3F, clear and calm [we walked vewwy early – 5AMish .. full moon hanging on the west wall of the sky]; Gusta being back to ‘regularity’ made me happy – and enjoyed that almost eerie silence

LESS COMFORT, MORE STRETCH
I work with the speakers, trainers and authors such as yourself. Truth be told, I read very few people materials but read yours everyday. I do not even know how you got my email address, but very happy you did. Really want to meet you personally and learn more about what you do and offer. When I read your column I feel as those you are talking to me personally. Your content is very engaging. Let me know when we can chat, CC, Las Vegas, NV
