GIVE ME A SIGN

When it comes to coupling and other forms of relationships, we can look to the wisdom of literature, philosophy, and reality. It isn’t just proximity or anyone’s loving actions, or timing, or location, location, location – but it is all of those, plus some fairy dust. And we all look for it until we find it, and then we don’t need to think about the search any longer.
Yet the workplace where so many people meet is now off-limits to many of us. Perhaps you read about it, another celebrity resignation the other day – for a workplace relationship; it seems Jeff Zucker, President at CNN, had a relationship with someone at work. He didn’t tell anyone, but it came out, as most secrets do, and he resigned. Most of us who read the news or watch CNN will never learn ‘the whole story,’ and don’t think we should. It’s not my business or yours whom Jeff Zucker or any other highly placed person carries on with their personal life. Yes, they should obey laws, and if their employer has rules/policies on such matters, then observing them is a condition of employment. I don’t quarrel with that. What I’m miffed about is that this becomes news, internet gossip and social-media noise. Whether or not Mr. Zucker’s relationship continues, whether it is history or not, whoever is involved and what the inside-skinny about it might be, ain’t my business. Nor yours.
What is our business?
Keep our promises.
Keep faithful.
Keep going.
Keep doing.
That and some good luck, and dealing with adversity when it shows up, that’s love.
That’s worth the V for victory sign.
P.S.: the reporting on the Zucker resignation is that it is tied to the upcoming merger of CNN and Discovery Channel …
