TO SEE ME IS NOT TO KNOW ME

Ever re-read a book?
Most of us are more likely to re-watch an admired movie.
We notice familiar elements while catching new things or identifying more clue-laden breadcrumbs the writer left for us to confront during each successive go-through of their story. Murder mystery, spy-thriller, or romantic comedy – so much crammed in there for us to notice.
People are like that too.
We see them as we chose to see them at first glance.
But when we look again, when we hear familiar themes or recognize traits – we can re-examined our assumptions of what those mean, too often wrongly presuming we understand thoroughly enough to give them appropriate weight or take our typical inference.
We are most often insufficiently invested in seeing clearly.
So, look again.
Whom should we re-examine?
Yes, everyone, we thought we knew.
