TEACHABLE MOMENTS
Tuesday, February 16, 2021 - daily column #6670

I’ve learned.

I am trying to retrain me.

You know what I mean. When we teach valued lessons, teachable moments hold deeper purpose, instill ourselves anew, re-learn forgotten truths, or grasp them for the first time.

I was expecting something – from a friend, family member, or any stranger. No point; nothing to see, no words heard, no note. Silence. 8.0 billion didn’t care, no worries.

Two didn’t.

That mattered.

Absent what I anticipated – did they not care or not know, did they know and deliberately do nothing?

That’s illogical – getting emotional about something non-existent, which I have no power to manifest.

More importantly, I must not question whether they did that purposefully to be hurtful, but whether I do the same to others?

Do I withhold to be hurtful, or is it evidence I don’t care?

Reader feedback:

AN ACTION VERB
“Cold outside, alone inside” is profoundly saddening,  but remember, to paraphrase GOT, “golf is coming”.  I don’t think I have ever looked forward to the next season as much I do this season.  Ooh!  Also, “dining-with-someone-other-than-someone-in-your-immediate-household...is coming!”  I am leaning forward, towards all the good things to come, RH, Calgary, AB
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY ……at least you are healthy and can still see, AN, Calgary, AB
