UP TO WHO

Ask yourself, is the world a happy place?
Or, is life a random act?
Are we at, or near, some brink? You’d think.
Read papers, listen to news – oil markets swirling around proverbial drains, job cuts and personal ruination forcing people and companies to their brink, or over the edge. Now rosier hues overtake gloom. Pondering, is this ‘first week of reprieve’ or lull before next storm – wonder if we’ve learned much, or anything, from this?
Meanwhile, obfuscating governments vacillate over what does or doesn’t a promise mean. Or what truth is. If you don’t get enough laughs here, look south – it gets sillier every day. Scarier too. Life goes on. Society continues to manage itself, or be mis-managed, by those elected. There’s a question at the root of modern life we too easily ignore.
Doesn’t have to be a conspiracy. It could, just possibly be a normal health thing. Seems to me we have control over this one – it isn’t some whim of government or whimsy of reality television, we really can be happy. If we want to be …
Is your world happy?
Mine is.
What would it take to make yours happy? You guessed it.
It IS all up to you.

GAUDIUM MEREMER
Hi Mark, Everyday, when I open my email, I always know I am going to find a little nugget in your musings. Today, it is the latin expression, Gaudium Meremur. I love it and am going to use it. Thank you for that. I'll send you back this Gaelic expression that was my high school motto, Sea Gu Dileas, meaning Stand Faithfully, CG, Cobour, ON
Hi Mark, Your message prompted me to remember guadeamus igitur, and to look it up on Wikipedia. Thanks – very appropriate at our stage of life!, JC, Toronto, ON
