LUNCH DATE TODAY
Wednesday Feb. 27, 2019
I know. It’s just lunch.
Maybe I’m overthinking it.
They’re not textbooks we open to explore. Chapter one. Then chapter two. Q + A / full disclosure data-dumping is as tactically unwise as it is ineffective We learn people randomly. Exploring someone new is often compared to peeling layers of an onion – one layer at a time.
Not peeling. More likely some poking and prodding.
Desire to know all things – want to tell all too. Or just to have fun, no control over outcomes, might feel like fencing, boxing or like kids playing happily in the sandbox – will we be sparring partners, or new love? Should we use kid gloves, or boxing gloves?
Ripping off a bandage is probably a better analogy for what we do, for how it feels. Easier by far to not venture out, to not dig or to invite someone else to dig. But dig we do.
In this chess game of human interaction, telling things in order of magnitude is not the same as discussing their level of importance (or chronology) because what is most important now didn’t matter the same way back when.
To tell whole fulsome stories – like writing a book where chronology of events fits, until it doesn’t – venturing into the sandbox with a playful attitude is best.
Dig a bit, move some sand around, laugh and have some fun …
I know, it’s just lunch. Maybe I’m overthinking it.
