We are not the personification of our facts but the manifestation of our character and attitude.
We know this about ourselves, so why do we fail to notice it in others?
When someone treats someone badly or in an offhand manner, that’s a display of who they are, presented ‘as they are.’
There is a great quote – one of her best, by Anaïs Nin, who wrote: “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
I often see people amaze me or shock me because they don’t handle situations or say things that seem consistent with who we think they are, which begs the question of whether they are being genuine and true to themselves or if they have been, only it is me that has not been seeing them correctly as they are …

Hi Mark, today’s musing truly resonated with me. I was visiting my family in the Netherlands, just before Covid hit. A close friend of the family had arranged his death (maid). This was to happen during my visit. Knowing I would be going home soon and would never see or talk to him again, I decided to call him. I did, with a pounding heart, not knowing what to say. The words came, and while talking a calmness came over me. I had a profound and warm last talk with him. I flew back home with deep gratitude and a smile in my heart!
