CONSCIOUSNESS STREAMED FIRE AND FUEL, STOKED BY CHEESECAKE I HAD FOR BREAKFAST. WHAT GOOD IS SWEET FOOD IF IT CAN’T FEED YOUR FIRE?
Sunday Feb. 7, 2016
What fools you? Fuels you? Does it matter? Does this? Does that? Does it matter when in life we begin something, or is the more important question one of why we begin wondering? Or why we stop? Or change direction?
Are we not wiser to try things, try more things, fail at things, fail at more things and learn something valuable from all these experiences?
Work hard. Have fun. Youth, is just a mind state, wasted on those under fifty. As freshness is to air, as sparkle is to water – fire live in every belly in search of a match. Keep doing what you are doing.
What heats you, eats at you, fuels you? What more do we need? Is figuring things out – being analytical, being well researched – our best way to best results?
Defying wrinkles and crinkles, aches and groans to start anything fresh is life affirming empowerment. Like gasoline and matches, like slow burning candles – stoking embers, breathing life back into those coals, watching bright burnt oranges and reds coax every last morsel of energy from firewood. We see what ancients saw, those first cave men and cave women saw it first. We fall for it too – love of energy for energy’s own sake, for having that fire inside us burning like those coals. Pick any fireplace, any campfire – or just remember sitting beside one. Hours upon hours. Stoking. Invested, not wasted. Because if you can’t remember those embers and how heat and light merge and bounce and flicker in each burst of air then you can’t know me, can’t feel what I feel, can’t see what I see …

morning walk: -1C/30F, clear, light breeze – Gusta seemed anxious to get back (breakfast is late!), traffic and its noise are soft, I walked and walked and walked – and finding no solution to anything I brought my creaky joints home to tap out these words …
