RISK IN EVERYTHING – THERE IS NO CERTAINTY
Monday Jan. 22, 2018
Is there anything in life that deserves description as a ‘sure thing’?
Blue-chip preferred shares. Government bonds. They sound like sure things. Unconditional love, sunrises, air. They sound like sure things. But what else is certain?
Sure. Sure thing. You bet. 100%. Yes, it’s a sure thing …
Really?
We’ve heard old adages, like death and taxes. They seem certain.
So, where am I going with this?
If so little of life is certain, why do we get so fixated on avoiding risks, on avoiding taking chances, on avoiding things where the outcome is not virtually guaranteed?
