DOWN ESCALATOR
Monday, January 11, 2021 - daily column #6634
Trump surreality show, nine days remaining, is ticking-down, the Trump clock with time running out, or some other ticking-down device?
The higher ground, the dignity of that office, and the humanity of his citizens have been lost on him for the large part. For more than five years, we’ve watched the Donald blowing hard on this trumpet every day. The attention drawn to him and spotlight focused on his every blaring, garish, or outrageous statement, so often the next most shameful action defeats and overshadows those good things.
History will judge what lasting value the Trump presidency had, and his chapter of history is not ending well.
Sadly for America and its friends, the prestige of his office and his country have been smeared, tarnished, and diminished with the world watching oh so carefully now …
Reader feedback:
I’m going to register a temporary residence in Missouri on this one, Mark. The thing that it does have going for it, and this is probably just sad commentary on our life and times, is it’s novelty. My EA handled my mail but wouldn’t open personally addressed envelopes (OK, she would open them so I didn’t have to but would not remove the contents; I really miss having an EA) so I think the real, strategic advantage of your idea is that your letter may actually be read by the person you hoped would read it. So, at least, you’ve devised a more effective way to cast your bread upon the waters. Godspeed to you and your letters, good sir!, RH, Calgary, AB
Writing, letters and otherwise, is therapeutic. I write every day - sometimes to vent and then edit for clearer, less knee-jerk thinking. And, more often than not for communication in business and personal matters. Never set down your pen, SB, Calgary, AB
