JUST ANOTHER COLUMN
Thursday Jan. 14, 2016
Starting anything often comes with great expectations.
Or none at all.
That’s this Musings story …
Surprises. Sense of connection, meaningful interaction – minds, points of view, agree/disagree, ideas for discussing. Mulling. Proud, certainly, for sticking with it. Tomorrow is turn-a-corner time, milestone time. Thanks to my daughter Carla for being the cause/inspiration/motivation for the first one. Without idea of outcome, this began as a ‘one-time’, show my daughter that ‘just starting’ was a good way to start something. I quoted Tom Peters:
Read, fire, aim …
Legitimate way to begin. Whatever flows from it. We’ll know it when we see it. I wasn’t profound or predicting, just having fun, making a point – at least trying to.
Readers, you’ve tagged along with my daily ride, writing through my life – witnessing ups and downs, achievements and bereavements, joys and pains, aspirations and exasperations, lives of my children, and now grandchildren – it has been quite a ride.
First it was 6, then 10, then a hundred – then hundreds. Heady first year feelings, unsure I could put 365 columns together, in a row. Currently – 7,500 readers get this column by direct email, a few hundred others follow the website, lots on Twitter, and a fast growing number on Medium. Happy, flattered, enjoying …
Many thanks to mentors Frank and Kathy, many friends and readers around the world, thank you for being there for me, every day. I don’t see you, but I know you are there. I count on that, as I hope you count on me.
This is 4,999. Tune in tomorrow.
It will be #5,000, in a row!
Big milestone.
And, just another day.

morning walk: 0C/32F, steady Chinook winds, cloudy and predictions of light snow, another fantastic snowball making day; Gusta loves the soft deep snow, I love the ‘somewhat clean/bare’ concrete sidewalk with few icy patches, love that humidity
