WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES?

We can be ‘who we are’ without apology or ‘who we strive to be.’
We’ll make apology-worthy mistakes at every turn, always some new slip-ups and misjudgments rather than repeating bad habits we picked up along our journey. Not all for naught – because so many little things can be substantial. And huge problems can just so quickly become new pathways to tremendous opportunities.
But more incalculable than purging powerful influencers/memories from – learning and following that example or running far and fast to escape/forget their influence. I have teachers and family members too, and I wish I had listened more or better.
I have a former employer and a mother who instilled things I’m still trying to shake …
Some things in life are hard to remember.
So many more are impossible to forget.
When I look back, with a smile or grimace, it’s usually about something pivotal – for pain or gain – indelibly etched in my brain.
Some for good.
Some I only wish I could erase …
