CONFLICTED, RESISTED, EMBRACED
Friday, January 22, 2021 - daily column #6645
By this time tomorrow, something big will have changed.
And a gazillion little things too.
By this time next week, so much more will have changed.
And, this time next week, most things in our lives will still be the same.
Many changes impact small numbers of people, and the most significant changes will affect all of us sooner or later. There is much to be happy about and probably as much to be unhappy about. Vaccines, not enough. Vaccinations, not enough. Patience, not enough. Return to normal – not anytime soon. Is it worth continuing this struggle called life any more today than it was at the beginning of the week?
How much change do you want?
How much change can you handle?
How much change can you do anything about?
I believe it is, but we need to pull our heads out of the media bucket and look around.
We need to walk in the fresh air and enjoy some sunshine.
We need to be alive to our vitality and quit crying about how things might have been, how much more money we would have if we hadn’t blown so much; we need to see the optimism of youth, new ideas and embrace a changing world.
Why?
Because life on earth is frustrated most by two things ~ conflict between change vis-à-vis resistance to change and its nearly identical cousin, the tension between embracing reality vis-à-vis resisting reality.
