WORK WITH WHAT WORKS
Tuesday, January 24, 2023
What works for one person won’t work for another without adjustment of compromise.
Often in business relationships, personal ones – and families too, getting that exact groove fit is an unattainable goal.
Yet people seek to hire, date, marry, partner with and do business with like-minded people with the same interests, likes/dislikes, shared/partnered objectives, goals, dreams, fantasies, favourite books, roller or squeezer. That two peas in a pod-talk is unrealistic and a waste of time and effort.
I don’t believe it is possible or anything less than eerie if you found it …
I’ll bet all the money in my pockets against all the money in your pockets; that’s impossible to find – and if you could, where would the interest be, and how could it be fulfilling to be with a virtual twin our thoughts, feelings, ideas and beliefs?
If we want favourable footwork mirroring our own, and that’s as unattainable and unwise as I can imagine; if it was a good idea to have that sameness in our counterparty, we should get into the mirror showroom business, where everywhere you turn, you see an expected reflection of who are, how you look, you’ll only be seeing an image like yourself as you believe it to be – and any fool knows that ain’t true …
Differences, not disagreeableness, are essential – not to be hidden or buried, but to be worn by us proudly when we speak up, speak out, reach out and team up. If we spend our time trying to find people who think as we do, we’ll miss many opportunities with those who see the world differently.
We might learn something or teach something.
Maybe both …
