MIXED FEELINGS
Monday, January 25, 2021 - daily column #6648
I have mixed feelings about this issue …
Anxiety is bad.
Anxiety is good.
Both.
I choose the adrenaline rush on both ends, exhilarating, most often related to clients’ transactions, arranging connections/meetings, business logistics, money issues, or other machinations of relationships in business and interpersonal connections.
Once the pressure is off, a deadline met, a condition waived, or new terms are finally under-contract, I feel like a moon-bound rocket.
But there is a re-start, re-energizing that fills me like air inflating a balloon, or ether priming a cranky old tractor engine.
When anxiety enters my life – which it does, often, over a wide array of situations – it’s like someone tossed a wrench into some fine watch-works. Everything grinds to a slow pace, then stops altogether.
I hate anxiety.
I love anxiety.
Or, am I undiagnosed ADHD?
Reader feedback:
Excellent musing this morning, Mark. Well-timed and well -written. It is exhausting, and time consuming, winnowing the grain to separate the wheat from the chaff, but, I suspect, that is what the spin-masters are attempting to do: wear us down to the point of indifference. Incredibly irresponsible, and dangerous, if we succumb. We must remain vigilant. Thank you for being a Watchman. Keep it coming, RT, White Rock, BC
I agree. We may never have heard all the news we should have, and still don’t, but the “news” has grown to fill the allotted space for it, which has grown exponentially during our lifetime, and it can be very difficult to find the truth. LH, Lethbridge, AB
