INSTANT KNOWING IS THE NEW HISTORY BOOK
Saturday, January 30, 2021 - daily column #6653
This was another week in politics and manipulation of society on Wall Street, Main Street, and in the corridors of power – not to say someone is manipulating our facts or money. Manipulation of how we see reality and the rearview of it, has not changed in this world of instant-knowing everything.
Instant, yes.
Knowing?
Not so much …
History.
Mostly mystery.
We weren’t there.
Neither were historians.
Not to say they got it all wrong, but relying on others, research, and the political-spin of the day – yet Kings, Queens, Popes, Generals and their minions influenced the depiction of events. In terms of ancient history, conjecture and guessing based on scant records, translations of texts and artifacts which themselves carry their story. No TV camera, no tape recording, no Tweets – no first hand sworn testimony, no physical record and all eyewitnesses are dead.
Enter now.
January 6th, we watched on TV, heard rhetoric, observed an insurrection against the U.S. government, we’ve watched the charging of the crime against the key actor, the trial will take place at the scene of the crime, and the jurors and judges were all there too – witnesses.
The archaic constitution of the United States was written in a time where history was understood differently, but the difference between right and wrong has not changed.
What will the outcome be?
Will there be a trial, a conviction, a right turn or left – sending the story down a different path so it goes down in history as the loudest voices argue it should, and we might wonder if the truth will be preserved. That’s what recorded live video is for!
