DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?

How many times have we heard this phrase?
“I’ll know it when I see it.”
Young or old, right-winger or wet-coasters, prudes, politicians, religious zealots and sometimes the scientists will speak with rock-solid confidence, whatever they are blathering about – that, “I’ll know it when I see it.”
When we are talking about passion, bliss, love, and joy – it’s hard to mistake those because the look on someone’s face and their look and demeanour assure us that we know it because we’ve seen it writ large before our eyes.
When we hear someone pontificate, bash others, bloviate about morality, societal standards of propriety, or the insane-ness of things they’ve heard/read/propagated online, we roll our eyes – and when we listen to them utter that phrase just as passionately, we turn on our ignore-switch and pay them no heed.
We should take care because shutting them out one person at a time doesn’t silence them, and as much as we dismiss them, the disdain and criticism seem to fuel their idiotic belly-fires. We ignore them at our peril, and we need to shout down and expose their idiocy for what it is, not just with infamous former politicians/demagogues and bullies searching for pulpits. We need to listen to our words and look in our mirrors too.
We need to ask, “When I see it and think I know it, is it real – can I rely on it, is there evidence I can confirm?”
