If someone asks for an answer to any question, right now, I have no difficulty answering – quickly, my response based on what I know from information available. Not knee-jerk. Just quick.
When someone says, “think it over, get back to us with your thoughts”, no time frame, no end of possibilities. Longer to deliberate wider range of possibilities. Love it because it is so much fun to dig deeper into any problem. Hate it because those waiting for my response think I’m dragging my feet or not interested – neither are true.
I’ve had this situation show up from time to time. I don’t put deadlines on it, but sometimes I wish I could limit brain-time-spent. Sometimes the mental distraction of a single tangent feels like a week’s vacation or a good night’s sleep – wonderful, yet fleeting.
