AWAKENING
Wednesday July 5, 2017
I love first thing.
Waking, 4:30 most mornings with or without alarm. Lately I’ve been getting to bed much earlier, sleeping better/longer and more deeply. But that’s not my story today.
Twilight-ish, birds chirp. Which wakes Magpies. Magpies make sounds nobody would confuse with chirping. Not like a Crow – yet in that class of sounds. I used to be annoyed, but I’ve grown to like it. Feels like quotation marks around silence.
Early morning is quiet, but not silent.
Muffled light traffic sounds in the distance. People sounds are zero.
Quiet needs disturbance, begs for it …
Magpie’s call is so distinctive like – like that soloist in an orchestra, not competing with other instruments for your ear.
I love first thing. You can love it too.
You need two things – long sound sleep. And a Magpie.
