AH SHUCKS MA’AM, IT’S JUST A FLESH WOUND

A friend told me to expect a stronger reaction to the 2nd dose.
The nurse administering my jab confirmed that a stronger reaction to 2nd doses is a common side-effect but by no means universal. I got my 2nd Pfizer vaccine shot yesterday, so my COVID pandemic life-altering nightmare should be over, right?
For that, we need a high percentage of vaccinations worldwide. While I’m not holding my breath about that – I did a big exhale!
Sadly due to poor people in 3rd world countries and stupid people in 1st world and developing countries – it’s not over for any of us until it is over for all of us. Some experts speculate we might have this virus in our lives for a very long time.
We tolerate the reality of perpetual cold viruses and flu viruses – so maybe we’ll become emotionally numbed to Variant D at some point, but it seems like we’ll have many more. So, once they go through the Greek alphabet for naming, do they start over at A, or Alpha, or switch languages?
Someone suggested taking it easy and drinking lots of water and exercising. Water, yes. Exercise, some. But I didn’t clear my calendar; I got busy, and before I knew it, my workday was done. I experienced feeling tired, the way you feel when you haven’t had a good night’s rest, so that’s the side-effect, great.
I add my voice to the chorus of those urging more people to get vaccinated because it’s not over for any of us until it is over for all of us.

And … move over Netflix – there’s a new kid in town this weekend June 11-13: Projecting Possibilities – for anyone wanting some great film entertainment this weekend, please check out the THIRD ACTion Film Festival (I’m a fan, and on the board) – this is year four for a great festival focused on films that support our vision: guiding an age positive cultural shift. This year’s films (click any picture for synopsis and trailers), some brilliantly funny, some sobering and serious, some subtitles, some not – buy tickets or a pass. Or, read the entire program. Founder and Executive Director Mitzi Murray and her crew have lined up a superb collection of films PLUS subject-matter experts from the Brenda Strafford Centre on Aging at the University of Calgary to add context, perspective and answer questions – streaming videos is fantastic.
