ON THE WAY TO WORK

We live 24/7, so why should we put activities into time slots?
Much ink has been spilled on pages lately about work – what we do, where we do it, and who decides. In the post-pandemic mix, the entire landscape of hybrids is evidence that everyone is confused, and employers, large or small, struggle to find the-right-formula …
The flip side is people are wrestling with how they want to work and whether the employer they have or the one they are considering is the best fit for them.
Having been my employer for a very long time, I don’t think of it in those terms – instead, wherever I am in the workplace. I do that from an office, from a home office, from my vehicle and from other people’s offices, and often from walking around inside empty properties. But I don’t think the ‘wherever you are is your workplace’ needs to be limiting because I believe it is empowering.
Setting aside the reality of families and the connect-or-not mix of work and life balancing …
Wherever we are, we can think – and technology allows us to communicate.
Whenever we are thinking, it doesn’t matter where we are.
