MESSAGE TO SELF
Saturday, June 19, 2021
I get to talk.
I get to walk.
I get to walk my talk too.
I get to write.
I get to write whatever I want, whenever I want and stop when I want.
So do you …
How we spend our time, not so much with joy or pain, but how we spend our time where our energy level, time constraints, weather, or needs of anyone else – but a ‘message to self’ we should not ignore.
Each time I return to actively thinking about this realization, I’m tempted to clean out a drawer, cull a closet or throw out a pile of paper because this is what I’ve been made for or made into by life.
It’s not spiritual or some whacky ideas about vortices; it’s a collection more than a collision – of thoughts, feelings, and ideas that flow from fingertips to page-edge.
I get to write whatever I want because I can.
Anyone can. It’s not about talent – it’s about doing. Like most things in life, the more you do, the better you get at doing that activity. Skill comes from practicing sound practices.
Who we are and what drives us is not in our DNA, not in where or how we were parented – it’s in whom we’ve become – by our actions, by our circumstances, and by how we’ve dealt with what we’ve been dealt in life. Horrors, and pleasures, we have these encounters. Some design, some on purpose, but most of them ‘on accident.’ Because we operate that way, not with blinkers on and not with both feet on the brake while parked.
Life, use it or lose it!
p.s. there might not be a living to made in your hobby or sport or intellectual pursuit – but if it drives you, the only one to make sure it happens is you, so permit yourself!
