IF WE FALL, WILL ANYONE KNOW
Sunday June 23, 2019

If we fall or are too ill to reach call 911, what will happen?

Getting older I am reminded of warnings ‘most accidents occur in the home’, reinforced frequently when I bump into furniture in the dark – trying to avoid a dog which is no longer there! How would a bark-less dog save me or alert anyone?

Of concern for everyone living alone – brought to mind recently when I clonked my noggin; I could as easily been rendered unconscious. If I fell down and couldn’t get up, who would call – would anyone notice if I’m suddenly gone?

For instance, if my daily column wasn’t published – would anyone call, or care or come, would anyone break down my door?

I have frequent chats with several people who might wonder what happened to me. Someone would notice. Or would they? … maybe a business service is calling out to be born here …

Maybe we should all have a plan of some kind, just in case.

I don’t have one.

Maybe I should.
