ALL WE EVER HAVE

Monday June 27, 2016

Do we have enough time?

Be calm or boisterous – we can choose. Our ideas. Large or small – we get to choose. We can change the world, or not – we get to choose.

Time is all we have, all we ever had …

Are you steady, moving forward – not straying either side, focused on goals, tasks – staying on-message?

Well, here you are, mid-year.

Or, are you mid-life?

Half done, have you achieved half your goals? Added any? Taken any off that list? Most people in jobs, in business, do annual ‘figure it out’, review/planning exercises – then put them in a drawer (gathering dust till next year’s review). If we stay rigidly on some path we set out on planning day – without every going off-path, off-message, off-plan – we won’t discover much that is new, not much that is outside our scope or expectations. Somebody will, and we’ll sit back and say, ‘why didn’t I think of that?’ Why indeed?

Stuck, mired – or simply bereft of answers to ‘what’s next?’

Review everything. Discard what doesn’t matter. Say, chuck it. Or don’t chuck any of it.

Most of us have been very busy, but haven’t gone very far. Not stretching much. Not reaching for unknown, uncertain, unthinkable. Have not built a better mousetrap. Or maybe we did.

Look back, see your trail, where you’ve been. How far have you come? Assess that!

If your best work, best of you, is behind you, relax – sit back, rest on your laurels.

If your best is in front of you, if your best is what you haven’t done yet --- hey there, it’s Monday morning, time to get cracking.

morning walk with Gusta:  12C/53F, steady breeze, clear/cloudless … you can see all the way to sun! Gusta’s constitution seems ‘back to normal’ so her frisky was in high gear this morning. Mine too, with a caffeine chaser ...
