CHOICE vs. AVOIDANCE
Monday, June 6, 2022

Starting my day in the best way is a direct product of having my schedule clarified the night before.

Not that it won’t get changed a few times as each unfolds, but two benefits that outweigh all others.

The think/re-think of the day is avoided by thinking through at my leisure the night before. The quality of my choices are better in the relaxation of the evening. And the chance to examine each choice I’m making in moving things around on my schedule – taking time to question whether I’m choosing to do something or to avoid doing something.

We make hundreds of little decisions every day. It slows things down to be more deliberate in making each decision, but it’s worth the time. Lately, I’ve been re-visiting the 4-quadrant decision matrix made famous by Dwight Eisenhower.
