ONE LITTLE THING
Wednesday Mar. 21, 2018
Just one little thing. Not science, not technology, not drugs or booze or meditation – but mind altering for certain. Yes, one little thing you can do every day. You could do it twice if you want to double-down.
It only takes a minute of your day. It may change the world. It will likely change many others. And, most certainly, it will change you.
It has changed me.
Will it help you live longer, live better, be healthier, be more successful, sleep better, be fitter, be more highly regarded in what you do – yes, I think you likely will. But it won’t matter to you. Really?
Because it isn’t an activity, a ‘one little thing’ designed for those objectives, for those goals. Because it is about doing something for someone else.
Try it. One little thing – every day – done for someone else = 365 X1 thing a year, 365 other people impacted. And, if you tell two friends, and they tell two friends …
Are you following?
This isn’t ripples in a pond because you tossed a rock in, or jumped in, but rather many ripples in many ponds caused by your single action. 365 a year. And if you convinced nine others to follow your lead, that’s 3,650 a year. 3,650 actions. 3,650 people impacted. Now, how about 365 X 365 ?
Reader feedback:
ARRIVAL
Congratulations Mark! , 15 years of consistently putting ‘pen to paper’ is an accomplishment of its own. Have you decided if your column has any changes in its presentation? Or is there a theme emerging? Or is it going to be the year you rebirth your poetic artistry? I am grateful to be one of your readers. Sometimes the hectic-ness of life wedges in and time is short, or more accurately I just can’t ‘show up’ to read a daily prose, but just as often you bring to mind a concept or understanding that enriches me. Thank-you!, SF, Lethbridge, AB

DEADLINE PREVENTION
Thank you Mark. Your note this morning also reminded me that packed agendas and disrespectful deadlines are all too often warning bells for subliminal stress, M, Calgary, AB
