MAKING A HABIT OF MAKING A HABIT
Friday, March 25, 2022
We form and establish our habits by repetition.
Part of my every day is an early start, daily routine and attention to certain habits – or they will be once they become automatic.
Not a theory or plan, but a habit I’ve fostered …
We are stronger than we think, better than we think, and we need to remind ourselves when others don’t and when life deals us bad cards and hits us in the gut. We need to keep doing what drives us from day to day, the same old clichéd way. Don’t stop. Don’t quit. We depend on you, and so many others do too.
And let’s talk about the human condition – what condition is your human condition in? (I know we aren’t supposed to end a sentence in a preposition – but how can you pose that question any other way?)
I’m writing this message today to one friend who has had his world shaken beyond everyone’s worse fears – I’m writing it too, for everyone else, because we all need these reminders.
Every day, in every way, don’t quit, don’t give up, and don’t give in to life’s cruelties and harsh realities because, in time, none of us get out alive.
Having healthy habits won’t necessarily cause us to live longer (though it can be argued that better eating, exercise, and sleep habits extend life …) but I believe they contribute to living a happier life.
Reader feedback:
So insightful…and to add one more frustration…South Campus Hospital, orthopaedic surgeon informed me yesterday, in-spite of Covid restricted surgeries backing up knee, hip, and other needed operations, the operating surgical theatres are now partially closing, typical summer hours of previous years, even though surgeons and their patients are desperate. Even though qualifying for a knee replacement today, the wait time is 1-2 years! Premier Kenny could do more, don’t you think? This is a financial decision, not any other failure, SF, Lethbridge, AB
