ON THE TIP OF MY TONGUE …

What did I want to say?
It was on the tip of my tongue – and by the time I opened a page to write it down, my brain went down another rabbit hole, and I’m missing that thought. Where did it go?
Should I retrace my steps?
This forgetfulness happens to me, and I expect it happens to others.
Then there’s the other kind, the reverse of this, when we end a conversation or a meeting and then, a few minutes of a few hours later, we think of what we really should have said!
It’s easier some time to think about and rants about things we didn’t say or ought not to have said – because if we had, things might have turned out very differently.
The consequences might not have been an explosive or brilliant revelation. This scenario reminds me of a quote – its origin is questionable, but most versions are attributed to Mark Twain. And Twain created different variations of this over time, tweaking his meaning, but that’s another rabbit hole for another day.
Here’s the quote:
“When I was younger, I could remember anything, whether it had happened, or not.”
