YOU CAN DO ANYTHING TODAY
Wednesday, May 19, 2021
Any day will do.
It doesn’t matter.
If you want to start something or to end something, or improve something – any day will do.
Take today, for instance: day 137 of 2021, out of 365
Now think of anything – any dinky task or pesky/gnawing-at-you unfulfilled New Year’s resolve, pick anything and ask why you’ve not done it yet, stopped it yet, started it yet, improved it yet or discarded it yet? You’ve had 136 opportunities, and today you have another one because any day will do.
I self-kick myself on this theme more often than I kick-start myself. No matter how much we know these truths, we have to keep reminding ourselves. But if you ask anyone whose time is up, whose life is running out, or who missed the last caboose as the opportunity train was leaving town – any old day will do, but only if you do.
Do something.
Do anything.
Move one thing forward one inch.
Or ten things along by one foot.
To move any idea along, redraft one overdue letter, convene a needed meeting, or ditch one supplier …
Too often, I think, I put a negative spin on things I’ve not done – when it is so much easier to do one thing, put a positive spin on it, put a smile on it, shine it up and show it off.
Just one thing, that gets me started. One tends to lead to another. Starting, stopping, thinking, and juggling are all parts of moving any one thing forward in action, forward in time.
Any day will do.
Why not today?
Tomorrow can be for something else …
