SUSPENSION OF THEIR DISBELIEF

Thursday Nov. 10, 2016

Not fiction.

Can’t make this stuff up.

In a single day, did America get great again, or is it just stewing in its own juices? Half a country feels that outcome was wrong, and their lives matter too. Protests in several cities – will it last? What is going on?

Three lessons for history: Trump debunked conventional wisdom on electioneering, The Donald will be iconic hero or bum, and his U.S. Supreme court re-balancing will tear up/remake history.

Media noise, environmentalist handwringing, pundit/polster-angst will settle into reality. He’ll face legislative gridlock. Republican majorities are strong, but he’ll control just one branch of government.

Powerful, but uncontrolled – his rhetoric scared the crap out of many.

Three branches of government, or four?

Three, right, legislative, judiciary and president – but what about ‘we the people’?

I think that makes four.
